Permit News

Following is a rundown of the current limited entry permit market, primarily in Alaska. If you don’t see something that you think should be included, shoot us an email.

Bay permits have held within a range of $145k to $155k for the past couple of months. As of today (4-11-14) we are right in the middle at $150k. Leases have been moving steady at $20-22k. SE permits slipped below $100k in past month. There are no leases available at this time. PWS permits were hard to find and trading at $235k. Cook Inlet permits are available at $80k. Area M permits moved slightly to just over $100k.

SE permits are available in the low $300s, but buyers are only offering $280-290k. PWS permits are hard to find, even with offers as high as $220k. Kodiak permits levelled off in the mid $50s after a pretty active couple of months. Area M permits were available as low as $65k.

SE Power Troll permit were getting hard to find after the new quota was announced. Prices were headed above $40k. Hand Troll permits were moving at $12k. Washington permits were almost impossible to find and offers were pushing $30k. Unlimited Oregon permits were scarce. And California permits were nonexistent.

Not much activity in Alaska permits at this time. Lower 48 Coast crab permits are pretty scarce, except for California, where there are plenty to choose from at some of the lowest prices since pot limits went into effect. Puget Sound crab permits are still in high demand, with buyers looking and lessees looking for the fall season already.
